Here's one I made earlier

So, we're back. Nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing, went to plan. Instead of our all singing all dancing pain free hippie hypno home birth, we ended up being induced, catching Group B Strep and Symphisis Pubis Dysfunction, which kept us in hospital for the last week. Now I'm back home, I'm hobbling around on crutches, and having three course meals consisting entirely of drugs of varying kinds.

Hmm, sounds pretty bad when you read it like that, but I actually had quite a good time. The pain of the SPD was pretty excruciating but is getting a lot better, and all my memories of labour itself are amazingly blurry inside my head. I'm quite chuffed with the way it turned out, as even though I was induced, which is said to bring on stronger and more painful contractions, I managed on gas and air. At the time, of course, I was begging to be put down, but now it seems like it was a stroll. In slightly uncomfortable shoes.

Fortunately the first free born citizen of Carmenland was and is absolutely fine - none of the infection made it into him, and he's a very peaceful baby. I'm totally amazed by how completely besotted I am with him, and quite amused by how I bristle if anybody dares saying anything slightly negative about him... :^)

Anyways, well done us, I say! For a first try, I think he turned out pretty good.

Congratulations again! Good to hear you've finally made it back home. Little Nils is so gorgeous! Good work Carmen (Mike too, I suppose).

Ooh Carmen, that definition of the SPD made me come over all faint! Glad he was worth the effort and you can always use the hypnosis on Mike.

Congratulations! He's adorable! job well done. Sounds like you handled it all really well, now the fun starts!

Well the fun'll start in about 5 weeks, we found the first 5 weeks to be pretty sucky. but it does get better! once the little tyke starts smiling!

I am not going to follow the nasty medical links, especially after reading what Euan wrote...

:^) Thank you all! We're all pretty happy bunnies round here at the moment.

As for the SPD, Dave, it does sound pretty cruel, but boys I think are fairly safe from it, and it doesn't involve any blood at all.

The thing that puzzles me a bit is that in the article it says it's very rare, but in the time I was in hospital there were at least 3 other women in the same ward with the same problems...
