It occurred to me recently, that I'd never ever seen a picture of my gran as a young girl until now. Boxes and boxes of photos are piling up in my parents house now they've had to clear out her flat, so my dad's been putting lots of them up on flickr. That's her on the left, at her confirmation, with two of her older sisters.
The other thing I found out by accident, was that her true first name was Christa, and the name I knew her by, Sigrid, is her middle name. I always thought I was quite close to her, but now she's gone I'm finding out lots of stuff I never knew, and I wish I could ask her about it.
It's vaguely infuriating.
